Analysis tool for Android apps

CeBIT 2016: Fraunhofer SIT presents tool for quality check of mobile applications. CodeInspect allows fast and precise detection of vulnerabilities and malware.

Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology SIT presents CodeInspect at CeBIT, a new tool for analyzing Android apps. With CodeInspect, companies can track vulnerabilities and malware in the compiled program code very quickly; library developers can analyze their library to identify software defects. Fraunhofer SIT demonstrates the ready-to-use tool at CeBIT in Hanover from March 14 to 18 in hall 6 at stand B36. Every day, a great number of mobile apps for Android smartphones and tablets enter the market, many of which have security vulnerabilities or even contain malware. Both can be fatal for companies. Until now, the quality of the corresponding program code could only be determined by complex safety analyses. CodeInspect accelerates these analyses and enables analysts to investigate even unknown software or software components quickly and efficiently. This is made possible by a function that translates the code into a language understandable by humans-. In addition, software analyzed with CodeInspect can be modified and observed on the fly.

CodeInspect is based on the Eclipse framework and is suitable for the analysis of all Android versions. The tool runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. It has already been tested by several companies and software analysts. Fraunhofer SIT offers a free trial period for interested companies.
